I have 2 awesome children, my son Chandler is in 4th grade this year and my adorable daughter Leighla is 1 year. Currently I work at Mariner High School in the Mukilteo School District and love it! This will be my 5th year on PTA. I started when Chandler was in Kindergarten by volunteering at family nights and other events. Chandlers 1st and 2nd grade year I was Co-President, last year I was Vice President and now I'm looking forward to another fun year being President! I feel PTA is important because without it our kids would miss out on many great things! We help fund field trips, Family Nights, school supplies and so much more. I am so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful team of Parents and Teachers. I love meeting new people so please feel free to say Hi and introduce yourself if you see me around the school =)

I have 3 kids, Josh who is a Junior this year at Mariner, Kayla who is in 8th grade this year at Voyager, and Haley who is in 4th grade at Discovery. I am a licensed Cosmetologist but I mostly do hair from home for my family and friends now. I love Camping, and I am completely addicted to reading. I have been involved with our PTA since my son was in kindergarten so I guess that makes this the 12th year, Whew! I have held almost every board position at one time or another except for Treasurer. I will leave that one for those who know what they are doing ;-) I love the terrific people I have met over the years and it makes me feel great to see all that we are able to do for the kids!

Treasurer~Ivonne Gauzin
I have an 8 year old son, Gabriel, who is in 2nd grade this year. To be honest, I do not have a lot of spare time but truly enjoy working with the PTA because it shows Gabriel how much I care about him and the school. I work full time as the account manager for a small insurance agency that specializes in healthcare and am staring school in October. When I do get some spare time I enjoy spending it with my boys (Rudy and Gabriel), shopping, reading a good book or going to the movies. This will be my 4th year involved with the PTA, my 2nd as Treasurer and I also volunteer at many of the PTA sponsored events. I have learned a lot from the experiences from the last few years and have met many great individuals. I enjoy getting to meet other people who are interested in providing a great school environment before, during and after school hours. I encourage you to get involved and help continue making Discovery a great place.
Secretary~ Marissa Ourada Ching I have a wonderful daughter Aria Jazzlyn Ching age 10 5th grade. I work as a server at Romanos Macaroni Grill. My boyfriend Dustin Pate is a school bus driver in Seattle, he is very supportive and also helps out with P.T.A. events. We enjoy going on family vacations together. I have been volunteering in the Aria's classroom to teach art and chaperon field trips since she was in Kindergarten. I have been volunteering to help out on P.T.A. committees (monster mash, carnival, discover the arts) since 2005. The PTA does so many wonderful things to make our children's school experience exceptional. It keeps us involved, brings us together as a community and creates wonderful memories. I think the best thing about being involved is that you get to know the kids and the teachers that your child sees every day. It is so awesome when kids come up to you with their big smiles and say thank you. Discover the Arts are my favorite P.T.A. family events. I love teaching the children, and the since of accomplishment they have when they make something they get to take home.
Box Tops/ Soup Labels~ TammieSlater I have great 3 children; my oldest Jacob is in 10th grade at Mariner, Derek is a 3rd grader here at Discovery and Alexis is in Kindergarten at Olivia Park. I am very active with my children and their activities in school and outside of school. I love Discovery and have been a parent of a child here for quite some time, my oldest started Kindergarten here in 1999. I have volunteered in my children’s classroom as much as possible and want to become more involved in hopes of becoming a Para educator here in the next couple of years. I also belong to the Mariner High Booster club and volunteer my time when I am able to. My husband and I own our own business which also allows me to be more involved in my kid’s life at school and at home. I hope that you will welcome me to the team and help our school reach our goals this year that I have set forth.
